The 10% bail bond premium is the fee paid to a bail bondsman in exchange for posting the full bail amount on behalf of a defendant. In Alabama, this rate is fixed by state law — every licensed bail bondsman in Alabama must charge exactly 10%. No bondsman can legally charge more or less than this amount for a standard state bond.
